Understandably, the first thing most college graduates want to do after graduation is move out of their parent’s house and dive headfirst into their first full-time job. While this may certainly work out best for some people, it is important to realize that starting a career is probably not something you want to rush into. As someone looking to pursue a career in interactive marketing, I went into my job search fully aware of the possibility of having to do an internship before being hired on full time.

After applying and interviewing at several different places for both full-time, entry-level positions and internship positions, I eventually landed a great web marketing internship position at envisionit media, an interactive agency in Chicago. While I know a lot of people are quick to turn their shoulder at the thought of doing an internship straight out of college (especially if it’s unpaid!), I can honestly say that I’m glad that I did it.
